How to Show or Hide your Desktop Icons in Vista

If you’re anything like me ocassionaly your desktop will fill up with shortcuts icons and folders and let’s face it sometimes we don’t have the time to sort through them all to to get that clean look.

Here’s a quick tip to hide that mess untill you get around to clean it up.

Simply right click an empty place on your desktop and choose View, then remove the check mark next to Show Desktop Icons. And like magic no more mess.

Before: Messy

After: Clean

Everytime I log on to vista my desktop icons do not show. I have to manually un-check show desktop icons and then re-check show desktop icons to get them appear.

Do you know why vista is hiding my desktop icons even though at boot up the property to show desktop icons is checked?
