Disable Highlighting of New Programs in Vista

Every time you install a new program on your computer it gets highlighted in the Start menu and the programs menu as a way to let you remember you installed it and haven’t run it yet. Here’s how to get rid of it if it bothers you.
1. Right the Start Orb and choose Properties.
2. In the Start Menu tab choose Customize.
3. Scroll down and uncheck “Highlight newly installed programs.”
4. Click ok twice and you’ll never see another highlighted program again.
