Offline NT Password & Registry Editor is a great freeware, but it is not easy to use for PC beginners. I prefer to use the Windows Password Reset Kit 1.5 instead, it has a graphical and intuitive user interface, no more ugly DOS prompts.

I have downloaded Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 from http://sn.im/resetwindowspassword it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password. I Wrote it to an old 128mb USB flash drive do this. GUI interface with mouse clicking instead of command prompt

@ Azrul, your right there is a problem with the site. Try this program instead from http://www.pcloginnow.com/ I used it this week and it worked perfectly in about 3 minutes. I’m going to write a review of it this weekend. just download the ISO file a burn it to a disk and boot from it, select the User password you want to remove and you’re all set. The program doesn’t crack your password instead it resets it to a blank password.

@ colin, I found that if you just accept the default settings which is 1 you shouldn’t have a problem. I have used this program a few times and never had to deviate from the defaults. You may want to check faq on his site http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/faq.html It might be of more help.

the online reg and password editor has let me get further than any sop far but i stuck on “what is the path to the registry directory reletive to etc etc. trying to reset pword on vista.
