Make Your Icon Text Easier To Read By Removing Desktop Drop Shadows

Depending on your desktop wallpaper you choose or if you have vision problems having Drop Shadows enabled may make your Icon names hard to read. but they can quickly be removed. Here’s how.

1. Right click your Computer icon and choose Properties.
2. In the Tasks pane choose Advanced System Settings.
3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
4. In the System properties screen click the Advanced tab, then in the Performance section click Settings.
5. In the Visual Effects tab scroll down to Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop and remove the check mark.
6. Click Ok twice and your drop shadows will be gone.
