Disable Vista’s Balloon Tips

computer21.pngAre you getting tired of Vista?s balloon tips popping up all the time. They can be informative and they can be turned off if you like, here?s how.

For Vista Business and Ultimate:

Click Start then type ?gpedit.msc? in the search box and press enter to launch the Group Policy Editor.

Under Administrative Templates, click Start Menu and Taskbar and select? Remove BalloonTips on Start Menu Items?. Click Properties and then under the settings tab check the Disabled option.

For Vista Home Premium:

We need to edit the registry using the registry editor. A word of advice always back up the registry before making any changes. A system restore point will do.

Login as an administrator. Click Start- type in ?regedit.exe then press enter. You?re now in the Registry editor.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion
ExplorerAdvanced. In the right hand pane, right click in an empty space and choose ?New-DWORD (32 bit value) Type in ?EnableBalloonTips? in the field.

Right click the new entry and choose Modify. It should have a value data of 0. Click Ok and you?re finished.
